California: The San Francisco Bay Area

Leaving from the Tiburon, on the shores of San Francisco Bay, The 2012 Dream Ride’s three routes provide challenging and beautiful biking for all abilities.

Dream Ride Full Century

Rolling West from Tiburon, riders are almost immediately greeted by the canopied forests of the Tamalpais-Homestead Valley as they begin to ascend the South flanks of Mt. Tamalpais. Legs will ache and lungs will burn as riders climb to the top of the 2600 ft. peak. After enjoying the views from the summit, riders will bomb through the old-growth redwoods of Mt. Tam State Park all the way to the Pacific, far below. Here the route turns North, through Point Reyes National Seashore and along the boat lined shores of Tomales Bay. Riders will then turn inland, and wind their way through the back roads of Marin. As the miles start adding up, the rolling hills and grasslands of California dairy country carry riders back towards civilization. From here, navigating the bike paths of Fairfax and Larkspur is all that separates Dream Riders from the finish line and a cold beverage.

Dream Ride Metric Century

Beginning on the same route as the Full Century riders, Metric Century riders still need to have their climbing legs ready. The 2600 ft. climb to the summit of Mt. Tamalpais will be a challenging test, but also offer stunning vistas of the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. After the descent from the summit, Metric Century riders leave the Full Century route to explore the cool canyons and twisting roads of Marin. After passing Alpine Dam and a number of picturesque small towns, riders will re-enter civilization and work their way back to the finish line (in time for delicious BBQ).

Dream Ride 50K Fun Ride

The Dream Ride 50k Fun Ride offers riders a great way to experience everything Marin bike riding has tooffer. Riders will pedal their way through marinas and lovely seaside towns as the loop along the back roads of Sausalito, Tiburon, and the Marin Headlands of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
