DREAM Ride 2009: Day 3

The final day of our ride was perhaps the most challenging, physically. While many of us thought the toughest climbing was behind, our path back to Boulder proved otherwise. After passing Rocky Mountain National Park, we cruised up and down the peak to peak highway, before reaching Ward. From there, we experienced the thrill of Left Hand Canyon, before reaching the end of our ride. A wonderful evening barbecue at Eamon’s rounded out the 2009 DREAM Ride.

DREAM Ride 2009: Day 2

Our second day took us from Fort Collins to Estes Park, via highway 34 through the mountains. With breathtaking scenery all around, our riders sped to their destination with incredible speed – despite a somewhat hairy adventure across an unpaved, unprotected stretch of road with a cliff on one side and a canyon on the other… By early afternoon, everyone was safe and sound at the Christian Church of Estes Park, which provided us with fantastic hospitality. In the evening, we screened CARE’s documentary “A Powerful Noise,” then hurried to bed to rest up for our final day of riding.

DREAM Ride 2009: Day 1

Greetings from Fort Collins! We had a wonderful ride from Boulder today – perfect weather and inspiring scenery. Our speedy riders made it to our destination in the early afternoon, and we spent the rest of the day enjoying the sites and sounds of Fort Collins – spreading our message of the human right to education at every opportunity. Tomorrow: Estes Park

We’ll be offering the one-day option on the 1st and 2nd days of the ride. Transportation back to the starting points of each day (Boulder on the 1st day, Fort Collins on the 2nd) will be provided to the riders.

The fund raising requirement for the one-day option in $150.

some daily motivation (complients of Kirkendall)

“…make a radical change in your lifestyle and begin to boldly do things which you may previously never have thought of doing, or been too hesitant to attempt… The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun… Don’t hesitate or allow yourself to make excuses. Just get out and do it. Just get out and do it. You will be very, very glad that you did.”
– from John Krakauer’s “Into the Wild”

This sums up why I am involved with the DREAM Ride and believe in the power of any endeavor which requires us to step outside of our comfort area and explore the beyond.

Today a thick letter from the IRS was sitting on a little stand where we keep our mail. We were officially approved by the IRS to be a non-profit 501(c)3! This means that your donation is now tax deductible, and it brings some legitimacy to the ride.
